Phoenix nature

Just because we are sad arm chair twitchers, for those of  you that are interested in bird watching here are the kinds of birds we get in our garden in Peterborough city centre.

In order of the most numerous:

In true Chinese style, the birds have a banquet of food put out for them and our soft mutt, Iris,  makes sure they can eat in safety without being bothered by cats (whilst helping herself to some of the tastier treats!).

Regular food items in our feeders and on our trees include :

  • Premium Finch and Mixed Wild Bird seeds from Vine House Farm

  • Guardman's berry, peanut, insect and fruit suet treats (we've found the birds go mad for the new pellet range)

  • RSPB original, seed and insect peanut cakes

  • Peanuts and peanut granules

  • Mealworms & waxworms

  • Rolled oats & pre-soaked sultanas

  • Fruit from our fruit trees

Other Treats include :

  • Grated cheese

  • Bought fruit (in winter)

  • Our very own home made suet cakes

  • Bread crumbs

  • Pre boiled rice

Not to mention all the insects and berries on our plants, shrubs and trees which include :
